Illustrations, books, and the things a small copper-brown dog taught me about paying attention.
I'm Sandra. I grew up in Switzerland with dogs always underfoot and a sketchbook never far away. Somehow I ended up in Dubai – drawing and writing whatever catches my heart.

Small crocheted creatures made by hand, one at a time. Each one slightly different. Each one with a name.
What Baylee Taught Me About Being Human
There's a small copper-brown poodle in my life who never overthinks anything. She wakes up delighted. She asks for what she needs. She plays with complete commitment and sleeps without guilt.
I've been watching her for a year and taking notes.
This is that book.
"She didn't search for peace. She just followed her nose, lay down in the patch of sun, and let the afternoon happen. I watched her for a long time. Then I closed my laptop."
From Chapter 4 · The Body KnowsEach of the 17 chapters ends with a Poodle Principle – a quiet invitation, not a command. Here is one:
Ask for what you need. Not with desperation, not with apology. With one soft paw placed on someone's arm, and the quiet certainty that you are worth the asking.
Each piece starts as something I noticed. A posture, a shadow, a moment that was almost gone before I looked up.

Originally from Switzerland, I spent years surrounded by fields and forests, with a dog always nearby. Then came Dubai – a place I never expected to call home, and yet here I am, grateful for every surprising, golden, overwhelming day of it.
I work as an illustrator under the name Sandrilina. I write, paint and illustrate books and design crochet patterns for one of my own characters – a rabbit named Furry Flinn – and accessories for his world. And I have been writing a book – one chapter at a time – about what a three-and-a-half-kilogram copper-brown poodle named Baylee taught me about living fully.
I draw and write whatever catches my heart. This is where it all lives.
"I have never met a dog who second-guessed itself. I find this worth thinking about."

Every Tuesday, a short letter arrives in your inbox. Something I noticed. Something Baylee did. A work in progress, a thought that wouldn't let go.

A scene from the week. Something the poodle did that made me stop and think. Sometimes a chapter excerpt, sometimes just a moment.
A work in progress. The messy part before the finished illustration. The colour that didn't work the first three times.
A city that surprised me in the best possible way. The light at six in the morning. The joy of discovering that home can be more than one place.
